What is an Embedded Librarian

An embedded librarian is integrated into your Teams class to support students in their research process. 

What can the embedded librarian do for your class?

  • Provide information about the library's databases, e-books, and services
  • Answer questions about the library and doing research

What are the steps for adding a Librarian in Microsoft Teams?

Add channel, Add member highlighted on Team Site.

  1. Add the librarian as a member (or Owner)* of your class Team.
  2. Create an "Our Class Librarian" channel 
  3. Now your librarian can share links and resources in the channel. Students can post public questions or chat privately with their class librarian.

*If your librarian is added as an Owner she can also include links to the Library websiteResearch Toolkit, or your Library Course Guide across the top of the channel. Note the yellow box in the screenshot in teams with additional tabs highlighted

  1. Add your Librarian to your Moodle class and assign her the role of "Librarian"
  2. She will work with you to determine what library-specific features make the most sense for your class. 
    • "Ask Your Librarian Forum"
    • Link to the Research Toolkit
    • Citation guides
    • Any other specific library resources you'd like your students to use
